Thanks for the Thorns writeup. When the album came out, I'd already seen you and Matthew, so Shawn was the only one I didn't know, but I warmed to him quickly.

I saw your shows at the 9:30 Club in DC on June 26, and The Birchmere on November 22, both great. Unfortunately I wasn't recording live shows then like I am these days...

Just a note if you don't already have the CD - be sure and get the 2 disc version with the acoustic versions (aka The Sunset Session): https://www.discogs.com/release/4418028-The-Thorns-The-Thorns

So cool to hear you mention London and post the recording. I had just moved there and was in the audience. Thanks for this Thorns series, loved all the stories.

Another wave of time travelin' nostalgia from our tour guide Pete. Thanks for taking time to share this stuff. I am EXTRA amazed that we didn't cross paths back in the day now! That live track sounds amazing too!!

Hi Chris- I'm happy to share all this. And even happier to have readers enjoying it.

And yeah... that live track is solid... Rob, Buck and Tony were a killer band... great feel all around.

What a fun time you must have had. I found a copy of The Thorns on CD the other day at Silver Platters. I plan on giving it a spin today.

Thank you for this fun history of the band! At the time of release I worked at a Borders Books and Music, at the Music desk. I was looking forward to the album as a like time fan of yours and Mathews. I remember being a bit surprised at the promo material we received as I hadn't expected as much of a push. We played the album a lot in the store as well as having posters up.

I do remember recommended it to a few folks and people asking what it was that was playing, although I couldn't speak to how many actual sales we had.

We had to push a lot of 'Now That's What I call Music' compilations and whomever was popular from American Idol, so it stood out when we could actually promote stuff we enjoyed and cared a bit more about.

Thanks again Pete for the stories!

I remember you guys running over to the couch to chat with Jay Leno. Totally cool!

I always though the Beach Boys "Feel Flows" would have made a great Thorns cover. So, if you do get a chance to hook up and try out those harmonies again...

Just planting seeds.

Hi Jeff- "Feel Flows" is one of my favorite Beach Boys tracks. It's one of a kind. I agree... it would make a great Thorns cover. Thanks for the suggestion.
