“Straylin Street” Fun Facts:
1) I wrote "Straylin Street" when I was 19. The song arrived and fell into my Yamaha MT2X four track cassette recorder in one go. Or at least that’s how I remember it.
2) Straylin Street was the name of my band Ramadillo before we were Ramadillo.
3) “Straylin Street” was the first single off of my debut album, Necktie Second. It did okay at AAA radio.
4) “Straylin Street” was the first song of mine that I heard played on the radio outside of my hometown. Bumping along on the Pennsylvania Turnpike coming into Philly, I picked up a signal from the legendary WXPN and they were playing my song! What a thrill!
5) “Straylin Street” appeared on Hopin' for Healin,' a cassette I made using money from a demo deal that Stone Gossard (of Pearl Jam fame) landed me. This was when Mother Love Bone was signed to Polygram, and Stone passed my music along to their A&R rep, who gave me a demo deal.
6) Guitar nerds: “Straylin Street” is played with a capo on the 5th fret. (Or 3rd or 4th fret when I don't want to have to reach for those high notes.)
7) Straylin Street is not a real street. I made it up.
Peace & Love Songs,
Pete
