Well, as an owner of the DVD, frequent watcher and fan of As Good As It Gets, I can say it's definitely not something Melvin Udall would have written (or produced in such a way) but it's a helluva good song. I really dig it.

You rule. I visited Seattle recently and listened to Necktie Second a lot when I was there. Your song Fourth of July means so much to me. It’s one of those things where you’re just cut from the same cloth as someone in a way, someone articulating pain that’s so different than your own, but you connect to it so strongly regardless. I love your writing- what a gift to discover your Substack.

Hi Cass- Happy to hear that Necktie was the soundtrack to your Seattle trip. Fourth of July means a lot to me too. I'm glad you found my Substack!

Great demo! Can't get enough. I love the movie and honestly it is was because it didn't fit the scene. Just one man's opinion, I hope it's not hard to tell you that. Please keep posting demos. They sound amazing. You're a true pro. Thank you.

In my opinion, this song should have grossed 314 million dollars and then some👍

Do you know what song did get picked, or did the scene actually change or hit the cutting room floor?

Thanks, Interesting story!

Hi Frank- I don't recall what they ended up using. I'm pretty sure the scene did make the final cut.

If I remember correctly, they went with "Days Like This" by Van Morrison. This is a great song, Pete. If you have to miss one, missing to Van isn't the worst story in the world....it's great to be in that conversation!

Thanks, Matt. Agreed... not the worst... missing to Van takes some of the sting out of it.
