Good advice, thanks!

Yeah, that is something I am wrestling with right now -- how to bring a batch of songs to the next level. It's a wide-open field....

Hi John... indeed... that part of the process can feel like 'wrestling.' And yes... it is a wide open field. Setting some limitations can be helpful. Otherwise one can get bogged in all the options. Anyway... have fun with it.

Thanks, Jerry. I dig the rawness too.

This is really interesting to compare the pre/post versions, and the choice you made to add instruments/players (or not).

Hi John, Glad you find it interesting. I do too! It's fun to revisit the old rough mixes.

Lots of nice separation in the mix! My ears want to hear the vocals up front and breathy, but how much fun is that? Nice guitar sound! —always harder than I think it’d be

Hi Doug. I agree that it is cool to hear all that separation. Scott Weddle's guitar tone turned out really cool. He was great at dialing sounds.

Nice cut. I love the guitar sound, and this description of the guitar: The lawnmower approach.

And +1 to the bass line comment!

Thanks, pvz. I'm +2 to the bass comment. Glad you dig the guitar. It was my old mid-60s Gibson twelve string mowing the lawn.

I'm a big fan of that one. I especially like the bass line. It couldn't have been better. Great job Dave. I also love the drive the cowbell gives the song.

Like I said, "Elaine bonked it out of the park." And indeed... Dave is amazing on this track and you can really hear his magic in the basic rough mix.
