As I mentioned in the intro to this live performance from my recent Vashon Center for the Arts show, “Skeleton Crew” was released as a digital single in March of 2020. I also mention that it is the b-side of the new “Lonely Mama” single. The 45rpm 7” colored vinyl record is out now on Mike McCready’s HockyTalkter Records. But you probably knew that already. Both songs are also available wherever digital music is served.
“Skeleton Crew” was the subject of my very first Substack post back on January 16, 2023.
Here’s that post, in case you missed it.

Near the end of that post I say, “I hope to cut "Skeleton Crew" one day with a full band and include that version on my next long player. Stay tuned. Time will tell.”
Well, time has told. Said band version is underway. I’ve tracked my parts. I laid down rhythm guitars (acoustic and electric wah-wah) to a drum machine. I played a signature riff on 12-string acoustic layered with a clean Telecaster. Finally, Elaine Summers and I completed our vocals.
Just the other day I sent those session files along to my co-producer, Paul Bryan. As this post hits your inbox, Paul and Jay Bellerose convene in Paul’s studio in Los Angeles for day two of drum tracking. Thanks to the wonders of technology, I’m listening in and commenting from my studio here on Vashon Island.
Stay tuned to Love Songs Etc for more as the new album takes shape. And keep your eyes peeled for more live videos from the VCA show. I want to take a moment to thank my paid subscribers. Your financial support makes the creation of these live videos possible. If you are a free subscriber and want to help keep the ‘content’ flowing, now would be a great time to upgrade.
Peace & Love Songs,
Pete
I'm imagining an "Eyes on the Ceiling" kind of vibe when this gets plugged in. With some "Doesn't Have To Be That Way" thrown in. Looking forward to hearing it.
That rug really ties the stage together.
